JOB OVERVIEW

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Maintenance Manager located in Niagara, ON.

Reporting to the Director of Plant Operations, the Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing a team of skill trades maintenance technicians and driving new maintenance programs.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manage assigned resources to execute site work programs in a cost-effective manner to support production, quality, environmental, stakeholder, and worker and public health and safety objectives.
  • To provide personal expertise and input to the maintenance strategy, annual work plan, and annual outage program.
  • Provide guidance to supervision team on current work activities of maintenance organization, supporting and/or removing barriers for maintenance work.
  • Work closely with Senior Manager peers to effectively coordinate work across the organization.
  • Set strategies for long term business performance and be accountable for work group objectives with support from the Niagara region leadership team.
  • Develop and implement new maintenance initiatives and work management processes.
  • Provide staffing oversight for workgroup including succession planning, hiring and development plans.
  • Facilitate resolution of work group personnel issues or needs.
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with employee representatives, staff, and peers.
  • Provide direction and oversight for Health and Safety, Environmental, Work Protection, and Public Safety policies to minimize risk and drive improvements through effective action plans.
  • Providing input and/or approving plant level policy and procedures.
  • To manage in a manner consistent with corporate values and behaviours.
  • Conduct work in accordance with applicable legal requirements, corporate policies and approved procedures and work practices.
  • To provide support in response to requests for information, including internal and external investigations and audits
  • Participate as required in identifying problems and developing, implementing, and verifying corrective and preventive actions.
EDUCATION
  • Bachelor\'s degree in relevant field (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering) or a College diploma with specific industry experience.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of 10+ years of maintenance/production experience in heavy industrial work environment (nuclear, oil/gas, steel, hydro etc\xe2\x80\xa6)
  • 5+ years of supervisory/people management experience, managing large teams of maintenance staff.
  • Self-starter comfortable working with fair degree of autonomy, comfortable raising concerns and making decisions, on-site.
  • Strategic leader with ability to drive new initiatives, maintenance programs.
  • Experience with maintenance workers in a plant environment, both union and non-unionized personnel
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite including MS Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint
  • Ability to collaborate closely with Senior Manager peers.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, ability to coordinate with supervision team on work activities of their maintenance organization.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and communication skills.
