Maintenance Lubrication Technician

Job Description


Reporting directly to the Reliability Engineer, the successful applicant will be a strong correspondent and will be able to keep everyone informed in a confident way. Proficient in mechanical and hydraulic equipment, they will be responsible for keeping lubricated equipment operating in excellent condition by ensuring lubrication is done effectively. This will be done through visual inspection, use of measuring tools and condition monitoring/predictive technology.

Relationships and Contacts:
This person reports directly to the Reliability Engineer. This person interacts with all employees in the facility.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Carryout ultrasonic assisted lubrication.
  • Record infrared Temperature measurements of bearings.
  • Carryout lubricant sampling and sample packaging/preparation for shipment to analyst.
  • Carryout field level/ visual oil analysis.
  • Receive, interpret oil analysis results, and create work requests for planned correction.
  • Carryout lubrication tasks such as maintaining oil reservoir fill levels, oil changes, grease lubrication, non-intrusive and intrusive lubrication related inspections, oil filtration, and oil sampling.
  • Carryout minor repairs, replacement, and adjustments of lubrication related equipment.
  • Apply and Maintain lubrication best practices such as lubrication point labelling, sample point labelling, color coded storage and handling equipment.
  • Maintain overall integrity, cleanliness and organization of dispensing, handling, storage equipment and lubricant storage room.
  • Maintain lubricant and lubrication supplies inventory in lubricant storage room.
  • Participate in equipment failure investigations/ Root Cause Analysis.
  • Participate in food safety and quality programs of the facility within the specific role.
  • Report food safety and quality issues to personnel with authority to initiate actions.

Health and Safety Responsibilities:
  • Using or wearing the protective equipment designated by the accident prevention policy.
  • Follow safe work procedures and report any workplace or job hazards.
  • Reporting immediately to their supervisor any unsafe conditions or acts
  • Reporting all accidents or injuries to your supervisor immediately
Food Safety Responsibilities
  • Follow good manufacturing practices and HACCP rules.
  • Participate in food safety and quality programs of the facility within the specific role.
  • Reporting of food safety, food security, quality, and pest control concerns to the immediate supervisor
  • Participate in sanitation activities.
Qualifications and Abilities:
  • Machinery Lubrication I (ML I) offered by Noria Academy or be willing to take the training.
  • Previous industrial plant maintenance experience
  • Previous experience using Ultrasonic and Infrared inspection technology for mechanical inspection is an asset.
  • Machinery Lubrication Technician Level 1 (MLT 1) Certification is an asset.
  • Ability to attain MLT 1 certification within one year.
  • Word Processing using Microsoft Word
  • Create Spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel
  • Utilize Microsoft Windows operating system.
  • Utilize Microsoft Windows and/or Web based programs for Ultrasound inspection, Infrared thermography, and Oil Analysis.
  • Mass, length, temperature, sound, measurements, and unit conversions
  • Post-Secondary Diploma/ Technical Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related.
  • Ability to walk for 8 hours; occasional lifting up to 50lb/23kg.
  • A strong communicator, both written and oral, who is confident, decisive, able to deal with conflict while getting the job done.
Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to walk for 12 hours.
  • Ability to squat, bend, kneel, reach, twist, use ladders, climb stairs.
  • Occasional pushing up to 50lbs/23kg
  • Occasionally lifting/carrying up to 50lbs/23kg
