As Operations Intern, the successful candidate will receive training and experience in many aspects of P&H\xe2\x80\x99s Milling business! They will provide support to the Hamilton facility in the areas of sanitation, maintenance, production, or a combination thereof as determined by business needs and individual capabilities.

Your day to day activities will include:

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment by performing sanitation tasks around the facility
  • Fulfil maintenance tasks including painting, assembling and organizing parts, and assisting with daily maintenance tasks
  • Assist with transfer and blend of flour, meeting specified recipe requirements
  • Perform laboratory product testing alongside Laboratory Technician and complete corresponding documentation
  • Assist with loading flour tankers to ship to customers
  • Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Awareness Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Company policies and procedures are followed
  • Participate during heat treatment, cleaning, sifter and sieve maintenance
  • Assist in managing and monitoring the pest management program
  • Perform daily tasks, checks and monitoring based on guidelines set out by the Head Miller
  • Complete work orders for mill shut downs, monthly inspections, corrective action report requirements and scheduled tasks
  • Other duties as assigned
The successful candidate should enter the position with the following qualifications:
  • Enrolled in a degree or diploma program, ideally in an agriculture, science, food science, engineering, mechanical/electrical, manufacturing or related field
  • Previous experience in a plant environment or background in agriculture/farming is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
  • Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
