What you can expect in a typical day

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Engineering Team Lead for our refinery in Saint John, New Brunswick. In this position, you will be responsible to lead a team of engineers to support safe and reliable operation of our assets. The Engineering Team Lead supports the Refinery by creating effective asset management and reliability strategies, and by providing technical support for maintenance planning and execution activities for refinery equipment.

Your roles and responsibilities:

Lead the team in day-to-day initiatives by:

being a mentor and coach

creating, reviewing and approving Reliability Strategies and/or scopes of work (EWOs, TWO, contractor SOWs)

creating, reviewing and approving MOCs

providing reliability engineering support to the many members of the area teams including operations management, technical management, maintenance management, tradespeople, contractors etc.

Working with the Engineering Group Lead to:

develop training requirements for the team

assist in developing programs

assist in maintaining compliance with respect to Practice and instruction reviews and updates,

identify and implement ideas for continuous improvement.

People management:

Coach and mentor a team of engineers by working closely with them to implement SMART goals in line with overall goals and standards for the organization.

Develop training requirements and succession planning for the team.

Promote discipline, knowledge exchange, and leverage learning experiences through technical coaching.

Respond to day-to-day queries from multiple stakeholders, support refinery investigations, ensure compliance to our Life Saving Rules and conduct work in alignment with weCommit principles.

Perform other duties as required to contribute to department productivity and Reliability Improvement.

Strong and professional written and verbal communication skills.

Demonstrated planning and organizational skills, along with the ability to identify critical situations and act accordingly.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Proven ability to maintain good working relationships with stakeholders including senior leaders.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Confidence in abilities and knowledge, and willing to face various situations, including conflict, with poise and patience.

Must have proficient computer skills.

Education and experience

Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical or Industrial Engineering Degree. Must be a registered professional engineer in the Province of New Brunswick.

5+ years of engineering experience is required. Previous experience in reliability engineering roles, turnaround engineering roles, projects engineering roles and maintenance engineering roles is an asset.
