What you can expect in a typical day

We are looking for a Maintenance Coordinator to join our team in Saint John, New Brunswick. In this position, you will be responsible to facilitate the effective execution of maintenance work at the Saint John Refinery. Key outcomes of this role include: improvement contractor productivity measured by time-on-tools studies, improvement of scheduled compliance, and continuous reduction of barriers that impede productivity.

Your roles and responsibilities:

Proactively identify issues and barriers that could impact productively and resolve them.

Develop and implement performance improvement plans with contractors and other stakeholders to improve maintenance productivity.

Manage contractors\' performance, monitor and direct their activities; primary point of contact between the Refinery Maintenance Management team and contractor. Hold contractors accountable for performance; mediate conflicts by proactively communicating with contractors and individuals regarding performance in a respectful manner.

Define, implement, and manage performance metrics used to evaluate contractor performance. Work with Supply Management post-AWARD to ensure contractors are evaluated with the right performance metrics. Act as a consultant for Supply Management when evaluating service contracts.

Monitor and audit maintenance activities to ensure key timelines are achieved.

Validate weekly schedules for accuracy.

Review field conditions prior to execution of maintenance activities to validate planning packages.

Validate that spare and surplus material are returned.

Develop and manage resource risk assessment processes and procedures. Execute resource risk assessments and communicate to stakeholders.

Professional skills

Analytical and planning skills: able to identify skills required in a very complex environment, see gaps and create plans to address them.

Strong communication skills, both oral and written. Able to adjust communication style to meet the needs of different stakeholders, keep everyone on the same page, and avoid silos.

A comprehensive understanding and practical experience with the sequencing and prioritization of tasks associated with performing maintenance activities on refinery equipment.

Ability to proactively build close working relationships with contractors and other on-site personnel to ensure everyone is set up for success. Skilled in conflict resolution.

Strong planning and analytical skills; able to see inter-related maintenance tasks and maximize resource time and utilization.

This position requires you to be in the field so you must be able to work outdoors, year-end, in all weather conditions.

You must be able to walk over uneven ground, bend, stoop, crawl, stand, climb high elevations, enter confined spaces, and wear all PPE as required.

Education and experience

Post-secondary education in Engineering Technology, trades or equivalent experience

Minimum 10 years of experience working in an industrial environment.

5 years experience in maintenance activities within oil and gas industry

5 years experience in supervising staff to achieve effective job execution

5 years of Superintendent level experience in the trades

5 years of experience in a leadership role in a multi-trade industrial environment.

Familiar with project management software such as MS Project or Primavera.

Proficient with MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
