MAINTENANCE - Permanent, Full-Time, 80 Hours Bi-Weekly / 1.0 FTE: Days + On Call Rotation

The Maintenance Coordinator is responsible for supervising a skilled team of Maintenance Workers and leading the facility management activities to ensure all facilities and grounds are pristinely maintained, creating a safe and appealing working and living environment for children, youth, visitors and employees.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Establishes, monitors and measures facility performance metrics, analyzing issues impacting operational performance and establishing initiatives for preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance;
Develops and implements control mechanisms and processes to ensure compliance to policies, standards and regulatory requirements to mitigate risk;
Demonstrates customer service to all internal and external clients, including answering inquiries, responding to concerns, and following up on special requests;
Prioritizes, schedules and monitors the progress of all maintenance work done by Maintenance Workers and external contractors;
Supervises maintenance personnel, overseeing performance management for the team, and ensuring they are properly trained and equipped with the proper personal protective equipment;
Obtains and presents quotations and purchase orders for the procurement of maintenance supplies and equipment and the work of contractors to obtain approval as required, maintaining appropriate records and inventories.
Assists the Workplace Safety & Health Committee as requested in investigating areas of concerns, and making repairs as required;
Troubleshoots and repairs appliances and HVAC systems including boilers;
Completes minor plumbing maintenance and fixture installation including basic repairs of leaks or breaks, opening of clogged lines and drains, replacing washers and other minor parts, disconnecting/refitting pipes (ABS & PVC);
Performs carpentry and drywall work as required;
Prepares surfaces for and applies paint to various surfaces;
Completes small construction projects as requested and assigned;
Performs basic electrical installation and repair work, including writing switches, outlets and plugs;
Maintains grounds in clean and orderly manner including mowing and trimming of grass, pruning of trees and bushes, and basic swimming pool maintenance as necessary;
Assists with routine vehicle maintenance including minor repairs,
Identifies and performs preventative maintenance tasks as assigned;
Safely operates power tools and equipment as required;
Monitors inventory of supplies/tools/equipment;
Ensures the safety of youth and co-workers at all times;
Cleans work areas after job completion to satisfactory condition (i.e. dusting/vacuuming);
Inspects facility and test equipment as required;
May require time commitments outside normal hours of work to accomplish duties during periods of heavy work requirements;
Ongoing participation of an on-call rotation, responding to emergency maintenance requests as needed;
Seasonal snow clearing as assigned;
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in a relevant displace (i.e. facilities management, power engineering, carpentry, plumbing, etc.) - a combination of education and experience may be considered;
Minimum of 5 years relevant working experience as a maintenance worker, or other similar position;
Minimum of 2 years' experience in a supervisory role;
Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical and boiler systems;
Demonstrated knowledge of the Manitoba Building Code;
Ability to read and comprehend project specifications, construction blueprints and drawings, property surveys and equipment operating manuals;
Commitment to Safe Work best practices;
Ability to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl;
Ability to stand or walk all day;
Ability to work outside year-round in all weather conditions;
Additional physical requirements will include frequent lifting and/or moving up to 11 kilograms and occasional lifting and/or moving up 50 kilograms;
Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills;
Experience using tools, including hand and power tools;
Valid class 5I driver's license, and satisfactory driver's abstract;
Ability to be resourceful and proactive;
Exceptional multi-tasking and time-management skills, with the ability to autonomously prioritize tasks;
Basic computer knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office software.
Valid First Aid/CPR certification;
Satisfactory Criminal Record and clear Vulnerable Sector checks;
Clear Child Abuse Registry and satisfactory Prior Contact checks;
Must be available to work on an on-call rotation.

Salary Range: A7 $22.19 - $27.00
