Job Title: Welding and Maintenance Technician (Journeyman Mechanic / Millwright)
Location: Calgary, AB

About the Role:
Our client is currently seeking a skilled and dependable Welding and Maintenance Technician to join their team at a hay processing facility. This role is ideally suited for a certified Journeyman Mechanic or Millwright with strong welding experience and a solid background in the maintenance and repair of industrial equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring equipment reliability and optimal mechanical operations in a fast-paced, safety-focused agricultural industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities:

• Install, align, dismantle, and move industrial machinery and equipment.
• Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems and components efficiently.
• Perform regular preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer guidelines and facility schedules.
• Read and interpret technical blueprints, manuals, and schematics.
• Safely operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments.
• Accurately document all repairs, inspections, and maintenance tasks.
• Adhere to all safety, health, and environmental regulations and company policies.
• Collaborate with operations teams, engineers, and fellow tradespeople to support seamless plant operations.
• Respond swiftly to emergency breakdowns to minimize production downtime.

Qualifications:

• Valid Journeyman Millwright and/or Heavy-Duty Mechanic certification (Red Seal preferred).
• 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, ideally in manufacturing or agricultural processing.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical systems.
• Strong welding and fabrication skills.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and schematics.
• Comfortable working in challenging environments-heights, confined spaces, and variable weather.
• Strong attention to detail, critical thinking, and communication skills.

• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites if needed.

Preferred Assets:

• Experience with PLCs and automation systems.
• Forklift, aerial lift, or crane certification.
• Background in agriculture, mining, food processing, or energy sectors.

Working Conditions:

• Shift work and overtime may be required based on production demands.
• Physically demanding role; must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Exposure to hay dust, noise, and moving machinery-may not be suitable for individuals with asthma or severe allergies.
• Work may include tasks at heights, in confined spaces, and in all weather conditions.
