SALARY: $41.16 - $42.89 + Living Allowance

JOB QUALIFICATION:

Class 5 Driver's License Locksmith certified Power/Hand Tool experience

Additional Desired Qualifications/Skills

:

Toolcat operation experience/certificate an asset Skid steer experience Truck/trailer experience

OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE OPTIONAL CERTIFIED TRADES - BAND 4

ROLE SUMMARY

The Optional Certified Trades Worker reports to the Director of Operations and Maintenance, or designate, and is responsible for performing maintenance, service and installation tasks in division facilities at a Journeyman level of skill within their "Optional Certified Trades Qualification" or ABSA Power Engineering Certification Class Inter-provincial or lower.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Assumes responsibility for the maintenance and servicing of school division facilities and equipment by working independently to provide skilled maintenance tasks at a Journeyman level of skill. Performs, and assists with, a variety of maintenance tasks including duties for all other maintenance positions. Creates a list of material needs and arranges for procurement of the same Operates, inspects and maintains all relevant Division equipment and systems. Proposes major equipment and system maintenance and upgrades. Notes condition of the Division facilities and equipment and reports required repairs to the Supervisor. Monitors and implements preventive maintenance procedures as required or directed and ensures that the School District complies with all applicable codes, regulations and bylaws. Monitors Division facilities for safety or contamination hazards and proposes remedial action. "ON CALL" duty required on a regular basis to investigate the nature of the callout, contact the supervisor then/or initiate appropriate action.

EDUCATION

High School Diploma, plus a valid Alberta Journeyman "Optional Certified Trades Qualification" or an "Optional Certified Journeyman Trades Qualification" from another province or territory with a Red Seal and the ability and to obtain the Alberta "Optional Certified Trades Qualification" within two months of hire, or a valid Alberta recognized ABSA Power Engineering Certificate level Inter-provincial Class or lower. Possession of valid Class 5 Alberta Driver's license.

SKILLS / ABILITIES

Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the standard practices, methods, tools, and equipment and building systems related to the applicable "Trade Qualification" or ABSA Certification and of current applicable legislation, regulations, codes and safety standards related to the applicable "Optional Certified Trades Qualification" or ABSA Certification. Work independently, and with a work team. Follow oral and/or written instructions, Good communication skills and proficiency in spoken and written English Competent in safe work practices and procedures as applicable to the work of this position. Making and/or advising of decisions applicable to specific trade or technical related knowledge. Computer skills for record keeping and division communication and trade related software.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Being prepared to work in all different weather conditions Scheduling work orders duties in schools around staff and students Changes in scheduled hours may occur; move to night shift or irregular hours during emergencies, inclement weather or as required.
