Job Description

Westdale Machine is currently seeking to hire a full-time Machinist Apprentice.

The ideal candidate for this role is a self-motivated individual looking to build towards the completion of their Machinist's license and gain new skills and experience in the manufacturing industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, product specifications and understand tolerances to determine machining and assembly operations.

Fit and assemble components and machine parts to drawing.

Communicate with engineering, supervision, and manufacturing personnel to exchange information regarding technical and quality aspects of the manufacturing process.

Material handling and general assembly assistance.

Use of precision measuring tools to ensure products meets customer requirements and/or specifications.

Shop and/or equipment maintenance and upkeep.

Material or material processing pickups and drop-offs.

Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

Self motivated and displays willingness to learn.

Ability to adapt to a fast-changing work environment.

REQUIREMENTS

Mechanical aptitude, including knowledge and use of hand tools.

Previous manufacturing and production experience is considered an asset.

High School Diploma or GED.

Enrollment in an accredited College in the General Machinist College of Trade Apprenticeship Program considered an asset.

Legally authorized to work in Canada.

Valid drivers license.

Westdale Machine provides a comprehensive compensation package. Total remuneration package includes a competitive hourly pay rate, an extensive medical and dental program, including life insurance, and a defined contribution pension plan with company matched contributions.

Hourly wage for this role will be between $20-$24/hr.

5 weeks total vacation (4 weeks vacation, 1 week of sick time).
