Summary
We are seeking a "lean thinking" Machining Specialist to focus on quality, safety, continuous improvement and waste elimination. A project-based, team approach is required to create and update standard operating procedures, advanced CNC machine programing, ISO 9001 work instructions, improve machining production processes, and determine required tools, fixtures and gauges. This position requires the ability to manage multiple engineering projects to ensure production scheduling requirements and budget targets are met.
Responsibilities
Lead the machining department focusing on.
o safety,
o quality,
o continuous improvement, and
o waste elimination.
Develop and improve processing plans and standard operating procedures related to;
o methods,
o design,
o safety,
o quality,
o material handling,
o manpower requirements, and
o cost.
Configure, program, and troubleshoot new and existing CNC Machining equipment.
Improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.
Assure product and process quality by designing testing methods, testing finished- product and process capabilities and establishing production standards.
Develop or bring forward industry best practices and new technologies.
Manage multiple projects ensuring schedule requirements and budgets are met.
Conduct all activities and execute all duties with enthusiasm and a positive, results- focused attitude.
Support company initiatives and policies enthusiastically.
Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Required:
CET or C-tech or equivalent related experience.
5 - 7 years of machining related engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is required.
Directly related experience Programming G Code on CNC Lathes and VMCs.
Experience in CNC machine, tooling set up and troubleshooting (VMC and Lathe)
Hands on experience with measuring tools and concepts: micrometers, calipers, height gauges.
Experience in preparing standard operating procedures.
Demonstrated experience in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing principles. Lean certification will be an asset.
General knowledge of APQP principles: PFMEA, control plan & process flow design
