Our client, is a Leading Energy Services company with multiple business lines operating across Western Canada.

Currently we are recruiting for a Fort McMurray based;

Machine Shop Manager

Reporting to the Area Manager, you will be responsible for the coordination and execution of work within the shop, operational business development, leading a positive culture with safety at the forefront, as well as managing and directing the workforce assigned to their department

You will bring a minimum 5+ years\xe2\x80\x99 supervisory/management experience in a related role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of up 10 - 30 people.
  • Responsible for organizing, planning, and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the shop floor, through working with and delegating to the shop superintendent, and to ensure maximum efficiency and productivity as well as minimization of delays. This includes a roughly 10,000 square foot shop with upwards of 20 machines as well as field machining and welding.
  • Scheduling, progress tracking, budgeting, forecasting, performance management.
  • Driving safety programs on the operational side.
  • Pushing growth through business development, client interfacing, and relationship building.
  • Responsible for implementing the project/facility specific safety plan with the assistance of the management team and HSE Manager.
  • Responsible to ensure the company training standards are met for the shop personnel in the use of all equipment and software.
  • Responsible to ensure the proper order of all part, supplies, and services necessary for the completion of work projects, in accordance with company standards.
  • Workforce management; requesting manpower, terminations, progressive discipline, performance management & problem resolution.
  • Responsible for streamlining processes to minimize costs, decrease errors/deficiencies and meet deadlines.
Skills, Knowledge & Competencies:
  • Estimating experience, operational HSE experience both an asset
  • Can manage supplies and inventories, supervise shop, manage the overall quality of production.
  • Experienced in resolving any production problems that may arise.
  • Can control costs to achieve company budget goals, if required.
  • Have experience with reviewed and/or prepared estimates and quotes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels and build strong relationships.
  • Strong ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to create and maintain accurate and organized documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Have a machinist background or oversaw a machine shop (asset)
  • Have a welding background or oversaw a welding facility/business unit (asset)
  • Have a QC background (asset)
  • Have experience with Fusion 360 and CNC machining (asset)
  • Have industry contacts local to the area (asset)
  • Willing to train or obtain welding supervisor certification or similar required accreditation (company paid)
