Position Summary:
Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the Machine Operator is responsible for operating the soft capsule machines to manufacture soft gel capsules and for utilizing the printing machines to print soft gel capsules. As a result of properly following the relevant SOP\xe2\x80\x99s, the incumbent will also monitor and maintain the quality of capsules produced.
This position is located in Windsor, Ontario, one of two sites located in Canada offering softgel development and manufacturing capabilities for the Pharmaceutical and Consumer Health industries. We have a broad range of integrated formulation, manufacturing, analytical and packaging services to offer full-service turnkey solutions.
Shifts: 12 Hour Continental Shifts (Days and Nights)
The Role:
Operate encapsulation machines and complete all documentation involving encapsulation operation in accordance to manufacturing directions (Encapsulation Master) and standard operating procedures.
Spread capsules on trays; stack trays, label, and transfer the stacks to the assigned drying tunnel and Check caps, for quality, weight, proper seams, and dimensions if required and record findings while maintaining all necessary operating records.
Confirm all gelatin and fill tanks for temperature, colour, batch number, and receiver sequences for the order. Ensure that there is back up for all gel and fill tanks.
Operate printing machines and complete all documentation involving printing operation in accordance to manufacturing directions (Print Master) and standard operating procedures and check capsules for quality and record results and maintain accurate inventory of design rolls, printing links, and ink.
Trouble shoot, corrects problem, repair or issue repair requests on printing machines and related equipment as required and maintain materials/supplies as required for printing.
Ensure proper housekeeping including cleaning printing machines, floors, handling and reporting of scrap, and completion of necessary information in the equipment log books.
Perform changeover activities as required, comply with all SOP\xe2\x80\x99s and GMP\xe2\x80\x99s and participate in cGMP Self Inspection Audits as required.
May be asked to work extended hours (overtime), especially when problems occur or when deadlines must be met and perform other duties as required.
The Candidate:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Minimum 1 year experience in a manufacturing, pharmaceutical and/or GMP facility
Strong mathematical skills in order to compute simple calculations (adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, percent and averages).
Ability to stand for long periods of time.
Possess a high degree of attention to detail and accuracy.
Good communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills.
Knowledge of automation systems an asset.
The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard.
Use of manual dexterity is required.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, bend, or twist, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
There is also the potential exposure to chemicals.
Pay: $23.76 /per hour
