Job Summary

Trail crew machine operator member is part of the team responsible for constructing and maintaining hiking and biking trails. The Machine Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner. Heavy equipment may include front-end loaders, excavators, skid steers, graders, and other pieces of equipment.

Essential Job Functions

• Operating heavy equipment in a safe, proficient and timely manner.
• Perform basic daily maintenance of operating equipment.
• Convey any maintenance concerns to the Equipment Supervisor.
• Work safely around heavy machinery.
• Follow established working procedures and ensure safe working conditions for himself/herself and the mountain safety staff.
• A thorough knowledge of company and department polices as stated in the Emergency Procedures and Safety Program manuals.
• Act professionally at all time.
• Professionally interact with other trail crew members.

Required Qualifications and Abilities

• High school graduate
• Workers Compensation Board Occupational First Aid Level 1
• Minimum 2 years of experience constructing trail (professionally or recreationally)
• Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions
