Montreal Art Therapy Centre is looking for a Mental Health Therapist to take part in our mission to help people improve their wellbeing. Your role will be to empower our clients while providing space for them to talk about their mental health and create an environment free of judgment.
Our team consists of are trained mental health counselling professionals. They hold a Master's degree in a field relating to mental health, and belong to a college (e.g., social worker, psycho-educator, occupational therapist, sexologist, etc.) or a mental health Association (e.g., CCPA, CATA, etc). Mental Health Therapists will work with clients using Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT): A goal-oriented approach that engages the client's strengths and knowledge of self in finding solutions to their problems. Being trained in Trauma-informed therapy, training in Indigenous culture and traditional ways of healing are assets. Want to join our exceptional multidisciplinary team in an evolving industry? What you'll be doing:
Conducting in person or video consultations with clients presenting mental health-related symptoms
Providing short term or long term therapy to clients of all backgrounds
Participating in clinical meetings with other healthcare professionals (nurses, physicians, psychologists, psychotherapists, and social workers) when needed.
Contributing to the continuous improvement of our mental health programs, clinical protocols and standards of practice
Collaborating with our admin team who assist you in your administrative tasks, such as booking appointments and finding resources or information
Providing progress reports for clients as well as keeping the clients' files up to date with session notes
Following up with clients to book the sessions
We'd love to hear from you if you have:
Bilingual in French and English
Master's degree in the field of Mental Health or Human Relations (e.g., Social Work, Psychoeducation, Sexology, Occupational Therapy, Career Counselling, etc.)
2+ years of relevant work experience
Must be a member of CCPA with CCC designation or a member of an Order in Quebec
Comfortable with psychosocial assessments and mental health disorders
Experience with or an affinity for short-term therapy
Availability to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, and on evenings and weekends (shifts to be discussed in interview).
The desire to work in an innovative and fast-paced environment
Experience with solution-focused brief therapy, couples and family therapy, dyad work (siblings, parent-child) are assets
Professional liability insurance
Experience with Indigenous clients and training in Indigenous approaches to mental health is an asset
Experience with children and families
We are offering:
Referrals to fill up to 15 hours per week
Furnished offices
Help with Billing/Admin
$55-$65 per hour based on experience and training
Paid time even if no client is booked
Please note that we serve clients across Quebec. As such, the ability to communicate in both English and French is essential.
