Position Overview

We are seeking a

Registered?Clinical?Counsellor

to deliver high?quality, evidence?based counselling to the general population served by MDABC. The counsellor will provide individual therapy and

may

facilitate therapeutic or psycho?educational groups, collaborating with our multidisciplinary team to ensure wrap?around care for clients with diverse mental?health needs (e.g., anxiety, depression, trauma, substance?use concerns, relationship issues, grief). This is a contract position with flexible scheduling options.

Core Responsibilities

Conduct biopsychosocial assessments and create individualized treatment plans

Provide short? and longer?term individual counselling (in?person and/or virtual)

Facilitate therapeutic or skills?based groups (e.g., CBT, DBT, relapse?prevention, psycho?education)

Employ culturally safe, trauma?informed, and strengths?based approaches

Offer brief consults or resource suggestions to internal staff to enhance client support

Maintain accurate, timely clinical notes in the electronic health?record system

Participate in program?evaluation and quality?assurance projects

Stay current with best practices in psychotherapy and integrative care

Represent MDABC at community events or workshops as needed

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in Counselling Psychology, Clinical Counselling, or a closely related field

Registered Clinical?Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical?Counsellors or Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association, in good standing

Minimum two (2) years of post?master's clinical experience providing counselling to adults with a range of mental?health concerns; experience with substance?use and/or concurrent disorders an asset

Demonstrated group?facilitation skills (an asset)

Strong assessment, case?formulation, and documentation abilities

Occupational First Aid Level?1 (or willingness to obtain)

Non?Violent Crisis Intervention (e.g., CPI) training an asset

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Advanced proficiency in at least one evidence?based modality (e.g., CBT, DBT, ACT, EMDR)

Ability to integrate cultural humility and trauma?informed care into all interactions

Competence in risk assessment and crisis intervention

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport quickly with diverse clients

Capacity to balance autonomous practice with collaborative teamwork

Comfort using electronic medical?record systems and standard office software

Familiarity with the BC Mental Health Act, FOIPPA, and relevant professional and ethical guidelines

Contract Conditions

Independent?contractor agreement; hours and days of work negotiated based on clinic needs and counsellor availability. Minimum 1 day in -person availability.

Work may include evening or weekend sessions to improve client access

Contractor must provide proof of professional liability insurance (minimum?$2?million per occurrence) naming Lookout Housing and Health Society as an additional insured party

Compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements (or confirmation of exemption)

Current Vulnerable?Sector Criminal Record Check required prior to first client contact
