We are looking for a Lumber Yard Associate to join our team! If you are a motivated individual that likes to stay busy, works well in a team environment, and enjoys working outdoors, we want to hear from you!

The Lumber Yard Associate responsible for loading and unloading materials and storing them in the proper locations. This is accomplished by using a variety of equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, bobcat, etc. They must also greet and serve yard customers and, therefore, need to be familiar with our store's inventory and return and exchange policies. The Lumber Yard Associate is also responsible for loading and checking customer orders going out for delivery.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Identify and assist customers with advice and information on products located in the lumber yard or other outdoor areas Assist customers in handling and loading large or heavy items Perform simple cuts for customer orders with the use of a table or chop saw Work with other yard staff to efficiently and safely load materials going out for delivery Stay alert to all yard activities in order to help customers, maintain a safe working environment, help in loss control, etc. Work with yard and front-store staff to receive and unload incoming merchandise Move and store products in the correct locations in the yard or outbuildings with the use of necessary equipment (e.g. pallet jack, forklift, bobcat, etc.) Keep the yard clean and the inventory near and orderly Be familiar with and take all necessary safety precautions when handling freight and operating equipment, including forklift, lumber cart, pallet jack, banding machine, table saw, chop saw, etc. Load and check customer orders going out for delivery, verifying products and quantities, safe loading of the order, and delivery location. Work on any special projects assigned by your supervisor, after determining their priority in relation to your other duties.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to speak English fluently. Must be able to move materials weighing up to 100 pounds around the yard, placing them on or removing them from trucks, pallets, etc. Must be able to read and comprehend written and printed materials, as well as information presented in numerical form. Must be able to safely operate yard equipment and tools, including a forklift, pallet jack, lumber cart, banding machine, chop saw, table saw, etc. Must be able to communicate effectively with customers, management, and other employees Must be able to work cooperatively in a team atmosphere Must have general knowledge of lumber and building materials Forklift and skid steer experience considered an asset.

Job Type: Part Time

8-20 hours per week depending on a candidates availability. Students are encouraged to apply.

Schedule:

Daytime hours until 5/5:30pm, a combination of weekday and weekend work to be expected.

From $19.00 an hour depending on experience and qualifications
