Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Lumber Sales Associate to join our team. This role involves assisting customers with their lumber and building material needs, maintaining an organized sales floor, and providing exceptional service. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, retail experience, and a proactive attitude to ensure a positive shopping experience for all customers.

Duties

Assist customers in selecting lumber and building materials, providing product knowledge and recommendations Operate POS systems efficiently for sales transactions, including cash handling Stock shelves, merchandise products, and ensure the sales floor is well-organized and clean Provide product knowledge expertise and upsell related items to maximize sales opportunities Manage inventory levels through stocking and merchandising strategies Provide excellent customer service by addressing inquiries, guiding product choices, and ensuring customer satisfaction Maintain proper phone etiquette when interacting with customers over the phone or in person

Requirements

Previous retail sales experience preferred, especially hardware stores Basic math skills for retail math, cash handling, and transaction processing Strong communication skills with the ability to engage with diverse customers effectively Familiarity with POS systems, merchandising, stock management, and product demos is desirable Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment Excellent phone etiquette and customer service skills are essential Knowledge of grocery store operations or retail sales will be beneficial
