Shambhala Music Festival is seeking a Loss Prevention Specialist to join our team! The position will work on the festival site near Salmo, BC from June 23 - July 28.

Our Loss Prevention Specialist will prevent losses by identifying and investigating incidents of theft, fraud, and other criminal activities. They will work to develop and implement strategies to prevent losses and ensure the safety of the business by conducting audits to identify problem areas, investigating known or suspected internal and external theft or fraud, and developing procedures and security measures to minimize loss. Candidates should have a strong understanding of security protocols, risk management, and criminal investigations, have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be able to prioritize and problem solve in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities Include:

• Work proactively with festival staff and crew to create and maintain an effective loss-prevention culture
• Conduct audits to identify problem areas, procedural deficiencies, and sources of known losses, particularly in potential high loss areas.
• Conduct periodic testing of surveillance systems and facilities to ensure the physical security of the site and that security equipment is functioning
• Investigate any loss prevention-related incident on site, including known or suspected internal and external theft or fraud
• Develops and implements policies and procedures to prevent theft at point of sale or inventory storage areas
• Ensure that all current safety procedures and policies are followed
• Maintain accurate records of all loss prevention activity on site and prepare reports on effectiveness of established prevention measures
• Researches, suggests, and implements additional security measures
• Performs other duties as assigned

• A degree in criminal justice, security management, or a related field and/or experience in loss prevention and security systems
• Extensive knowledge of loss prevention strategies and procedures
• Must have a valid Class 5 Driver's license with a clean abstract
• Security License is an asset
• Experience with festivals and events is an asset
• Experience using Google Docs and Microsoft Applications
• Strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Strong critical thinking and attention to detail
• Must be highly motivated and perform well under pressure
• Must be able to camp in a self-sufficient manner for the duration of the festival
