We are looking for a Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about technical accuracy, workflow efficiency, and proactive communication with care homes and POAs.
This role is ideal for someone with:

Excellent communication skills to liaise with care homes, healthcare teams, and families
The ability to manage competing priorities while ensuring orders are completed on time and meet delivery cut-off deadlines
As a key member of our team, you will oversee prescription verification, ensure accurate eMAR setup, liaise with care teams and POAs, train pharmacy staff on new policies and procedures, ensure regulatory compliance, and answer billing inquiries.
Conduct thorough technical checks of prescriptions to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulations.
Ensure that medication orders are set up correctly in eMAR systems, minimizing errors and improving resident safety.
Manually verify medication strip packaging for accuracy
Identify and resolve order discrepancies before processing to prevent medication errors.
Order Processing & Timely Delivery Management
Maintain strict adherence to delivery cut-off times, ensuring all orders are completed and dispatched on schedule.
Monitor workflow efficiency to ensure medications are accurately prepared, packaged, and delivered without delay.
Proactively track prescription processing to prevent delays and operational bottlenecks.
Triage orders based on severity to ensure critical orders are completed in a timely manner
Effective Communication & Customer Service
Serve as the primary point of contact for LTC/Retirement homes staff, patients, and POAs, ensuring clear, proactive, and professional communication.
Provide updates on medication orders, delivery schedules, and any clarifications needed.
Address and resolve billing inquiries from care homes and POAs with accuracy and professionalism.
Support pharmacists in educating residents, family members, and POAs on the medication management system at the various homes.
Provide guidance to care home staff on safe medication administration and documentation practices.
Collaboration with Pharmacists & Clinical Teams
Work closely with operational and consultant pharmacists to address clinical and operational concerns.
Ensure resident health records are accurately maintained, well-organized, and complete, supporting proper documentation and seamless continuity of care at all times.
Support medication reconciliation processes when residents are admitted, discharged, or transferred between care settings.
Training & Staff Development
Develop and lead training sessions for pharmacy staff on new policies, procedures, and regulatory updates.
Mentor and support new and existing staff, ensuring consistent best practices in pharmacy operations.
Educate care home staff on pharmacy procedures, proper eMAR documentation, and medication handling.
Regulatory Compliance & Accreditation
Ensure compliance with Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) standards, Ontario Drug Benefit (ODB) regulations, and other provincial/federal laws.
Assist in preparing for audits and inspections, ensuring all pharmacy processes meet regulatory standards.
Implement updates to pharmacy regulations, ensuring all staff are informed and compliant.
Pharmacy Workflow & Technology Optimization
Assist with implementation and troubleshooting of pharmacy software systems, including eMARs, e-Prescribing software, medication packaging automation, and automated dispensing technology.
Identify workflow improvements to enhance pharmacy efficiency and accuracy.
Participate in continuous quality assurance initiatives, including incident reporting and resolution.
What You Bring to the Team
Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
Strong experience in technical prescription verification and eMAR systems.
Ability to meet tight deadlines and ensure timely order processing and delivery.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills to liaise with healthcare teams, POAs, and billing inquiries.
Experience in training pharmacy staff and leading process improvements.
Knowledge of LTC pharmacy operations, ODB billing, and regulatory compliance.
Familiarity with Kroll, Point Click Care (PCC), Med e-care, PACMED/PACVision, and Microsoft Office is preferred.
Previous experience in long-term care or community pharmacy is an asset.
Work Hours:
8:30 am to 5:00 pm with the possibility of some evenings to 8 pm
Weekend coverage as needed
