Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

: Primary purpose of the job position is to prepare food in accordance with current applicable federal and provincial standards, guidelines and regulations, with the Long Term Care Home's established policies and procedures, and as may be directed by the Dietary Department Manager to assure quality food service is provided at all times.

REQUIRMENT:

If all requirements are not met, application will not be reviewed further.

PROOF REQUIRED:

Red Seal Cook Certification and Chef training or culinary management diploma from a program that meets the standard established by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, Ontario.

PROOF REQUIRED

: Successful completion of a food handler's course offered by the local public health department.

PROOF REQUIRED

: COVID Vaccinations (2 Doses plus Booster) and "Clear" Vulnerable Sector Check not less than 6 months old.

PREFERRED

: Minimum 1 year experience as cook in Long Term Care Setting

PERSONAL COMPETANCIES & QUALIFICATIONS



Must be knowledgeable about Canada's Food Guide, therapeutic diets and HACCP Serve and prepare food in large quantities in accordance with established portion control procedures, diet needs, and special diet Must possess leadership ability, team work and critical thinking skills. Possesses a high degree of personal accountability, responsibility and strong decision-making abilities. Must maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of dietary service areas; Previous experience working in long-term care or with the geriatric population preferred. Assist in delivery, inventorying and storing in-coming food and supplies. Complete daily cleaning assignments, sign off logs as posted and other duties as assigned by Food Service Manager. Must possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills and be able to follow oral and written instructions in the English language. Any any other tasks as per the position task description

WORKPLACE CONDITIONS:



Must be physically capable of safely lifting and transferring hot heavy objects and standing for the majority of work hours. Will be exposed to alternating warm and cold temperatures. May at times work in close proximity to individuals presenting with or at risk for responsive behaviours that may be associated with complex and challenging mental health, substance use and/or other neurological conditions.
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $22.63 per hour

Expected hours: 15 - 30 per week
