Long Term Care Manager

Job Description

This is a management position responsible for a range of services in the area of supervision, strategic planning, financial management/budget utilization, quality improvement/risk management, and ultimately the quality of care provided to the residents of Colville Manor. This position is responsible for the leadership and direct management of the Nursing and Activities Departments, and also for the Business Office. The Long Term Care Manager reports to the Director of Nursing Long Term Care-East.

Duties will include but not limited to:



demonstrating and promoting positive and solution-focused leadership within the facility to approximately 70 direct staff comprising of RNs, LPNs, RCWs, activities and administrative staff; planning, implementing and evaluating the optimum use of human resources to provide the most efficient and effective delivery of person centered nursing care while ensuring the established standards of practice are met; developing and implementing a continuous quality improvement plan; determining staffing needs, participating in the staffing process, performing performance appraisals, maintaining regular staffing rotations, and providing guidance, direction, leadership, and supervision to staff; promoting the advancement of nursing knowledge and practice which is research and evidence based; assisting with reviewing and approving move-ins to Colville Manor, meeting with family members, nurse practitioners, physicians, and other individuals regarding concerns or issues with resident care; participating in the setting and implementation of organizational and departmental goals, priorities, and strategies; actively participating in and responsible for the planning, allocation, and implementation of financial resources; acting as trustee of Resident Trust and responsible for ensuring follow up on financial resources with regards to the payment of Resident accounts; attending and participating in various committees, management meetings, provincial committees and working groups as required; performing other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:



Must possess a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and active or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses and Midwives of Prince Edward Island; Considerable experience in leadership and management roles; Experience in planning and policy development as well as financial and human resource management is required; Extensive knowledge and experience in the delivery of geriatric services; Knowledge of professional practice and evidence-based care; Excellent organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; Demonstrated decision making, analytical thinking, leadership, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills; A good previous work and attendance record.

Other Qualifications:



Master's degree in a related field would be considered an asset. CNA certification in a related field would be considered an asset. Completion of the introduction to Nursing Management Program through the Canadian Hospital Association would also be an asset.

Salary Range:

$45.76 - 56.29 per hour (Level 20N)

Bi-Weekly Hours:

75 Hours Bi-Weekly / Monday - Friday 7.5 Hour Shifts / Evenings and Weekends as Required
