FGF Transport is seeking a dependable and safety minded professional to support the efficient transportation and logistics operations of our advanced indoor farming facility. The Long Haul Class 1 Driver plays a key role in ensuring the timely and secure movement of produce materials and supplies between our production site distribution partners and customers.
The ideal candidate will have proven experience operating long haul Class 1 commercial vehicles with reefer trailers a strong commitment to road safety and compliance and a professional approach to representing UP Vertical Farms in all business interactions.
This is a full time position within the Operations Department of UP Vertical Farms. The Long Haul Class 1 Driver reports directly to the Operations Supervisor and works collaboratively with production logistics and warehouse teams to coordinate delivery schedules from Canada to the United States manage shipping documentation and uphold vehicle and load safety standards.
Regular hours may include weekdays weekends and occasional evenings depending on delivery volumes and customer requirements.
The position involves operating Class 1 commercial vehicles with reefer trailers in full compliance with federal and provincial transportation regulations conducting thorough pre trip and post trip vehicle inspections loading and unloading goods and maintaining accurate delivery and inspection records. The Long Haul Class 1 Driver ensures that all products are handled safely efficiently and delivered in optimal condition.
Additional responsibilities include assisting with logistics coordination supporting warehouse operations as required and fostering a workplace culture grounded in safety reliability and professionalism.
Work is performed in accordance with company policies Transportation of Dangerous Goods and National Safety Code standards Good Distribution Practices and United States FMCSA Hours of Service rules. The Long Haul Class 1 Driver exercises independence and judgment in planning routes meeting delivery timelines and resolving logistical challenges.
Performance is evaluated by the Operations Supervisor based on safety record incident record delivery performance and adherence to company and regulatory standards.

Duties and Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to
Conduct pre trip and post trip inspections of vehicles in accordance with company policy TDG and NSC standards and report defects immediately
Load secure and unload produce to maintain product integrity and temperature control
Comply with traffic laws safe driving practices and company procedures
Ensure compliance with Canadian and United States transportation regulations including cross border requirements
Complete assigned routes safely and on schedule and communicate delays or issues
Manage shipping and customs documentation for cross border deliveries
Monitor load conditions including temperature readings and report deviations
Maintain vehicle logs cargo manifests delivery receipts and ELD records
Perform minor emergency repairs when required
Follow WorkSafeBC health and safety requirements and use PPE
Perform other duties as required
Qualifications
Valid Class 1 BC Drivers License with a clean drivers abstract
Legally eligible for cross border travel to the United States with a valid passport
FAST Card
Clean five year claims history
Completion of Mandatory Entry Level Training
Experience operating Class 1 commercial vehicles and reefer trailers
Knowledge of TDG NSC and Hours of Service regulations
Must be able to pass a drug test
Experience with automatic transmission
Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and evenings
Comfortable driving in two person teams
Working Conditions
Work is performed on site and involves international travel to the United States
Physically demanding role involving prolonged driving and occasional lifting up to 23 kg
Work hours vary based on delivery volumes and schedules
PPE must be worn as required by company policy and WorkSafeBC
Compensation and Schedule
Starting pay is CA$0.75 per mile
Approximately two loads per week
Canada HOS Cycle 2
40 to 60 hours per week
Two person team
Shifts may include mornings days evenings nights weekdays or weekends
Training
On site and on the job training provided
