The Logistics & Procurement Lead reports to the Chief Compliance Officer and is responsible for managing the efficient flow of goods, materials, and supplies to support cannabis production and distribution operations. This role combines shipping and receiving, purchasing, inventory control, and vendor management with strict adherence to Health Canada cannabis regulations, Good Production Practices (GPP), and internal quality management systems.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Purchasing
Source and purchase raw materials, packaging, equipment, and operational supplies in compliance with company procurement policies.
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms with vendors to optimize cost and quality.
Maintain approved vendor lists, including conducting supplier evaluations and compliance evaluations.
Prepare and issue purchase orders, track order status, and resolve delivery or quality issues.
Shipping & Receiving
Coordinate incoming shipments, verifying accuracy against purchase orders and specifications.
Manage outbound shipments, ensuring proper packaging, labeling, documentation, and compliance with cannabis transportation regulations.
Maintain accurate receiving records and reconcile discrepancies with suppliers.
Schedule freight and courier services, optimizing cost and timelines.
Inventory Control
Monitor inventory levels of raw materials, finished goods, and operational supplies to ensure uninterrupted production.
Maintain accurate inventory records in the company QMS system.
Conduct regular cycle counts and participate in year-end inventory audits.
Implement and monitor storage practices to maintain product quality and prevent contamination.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure all logistics and procurement activities meet Health Canada regulatory requirements, including recordkeeping for cannabis movement, supplier documentation, and product traceability.
Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department to maintain compliant vendor documentation and material specifications.
Maintain accurate and auditable records for all procurement, shipping, and receiving transactions.
Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
Cross-Functional Support
Liaise with production, quality, and finance teams to align procurement and logistics activities with operational needs.
Assist with continuous improvement initiatives to streamline supply chain and reduce costs.
Participate in training to stay current with regulatory and industry best practices.
Qualifications
Post-secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).3+ years of experience in logistics, procurement, or supply chain coordination (cannabis, food, or pharmaceutical industry preferred).
Knowledge of Health Canada cannabis regulations, GPP, and GMP standards.
Strong vendor management, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Proficiency in ERP/QMS systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle and ability to travel.
Mandatory
Must not have any criminal convictions or arrests involving drug-related offences, (a criminal record check with the RCMP will be required prior to and at the CEO's discretion to maintain the position).
Applicants must have legal authorization to work in Canada with no restrictions.
Must have reliable transportation as our facility is out of town.
