POSITION SUMMARY
: The Logistics Manager is responsible for the operation of transportation services out of our Winnipeg, Manitoba location. Reporting to the Director, Fleet Operations, this person will act as a key member of the customer service team, working closely with procurement and customer service managers to drive improvements in customer experience. This position supports all aspects of transportation management provincially including tools, systems, network optimization and fleet management.
POSITION TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a safe working environment and ensure that company Health and Safety policies and good housekeeping is being observed.
  • Develop and improve key business processes as it relates to the trucking operation at Manitoba facility e.g. Cost tracking, Key Performance Indicators
  • Provide route development and engineering resources to optimize route network.
  • Responsible for the leadership and development of 1 salaried direct report
  • Develop, maintain and nurture a positive work environment through use of excellent interpersonal skills, team building and fostering of open, 2-way communication
  • Implementation of industry best practices in fleet management and operations.
  • Development of annual operating budgets and monthly reporting on spending variances.
  • Management of fleet lifecycle and capital purchasing for Winnipeg as it pertains to the ongoing replenishment of rolling stock.
  • Regulatory compliance of the fleet.
  • Provide guidance to direct report so that Standard Operating Procedures are understood and being followed, and any deviations are noted as well as taking appropriate corrective action
  • Support root cause resolution of any Customer Service issues / complaints.
  • Coordinate with Fleet Maintenance concerning commercial vehicle preventative maintenance and repair requirements.
  • Conduct root cause investigations for all injuries and incidents, ensuring consistent discipline and retraining and corrective actions implementation.
  • Overall responsibility for day-to-day fleet operations at the Winnipeg facility
  • Other duties as required

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • University or College Degree/Diploma in a related discipline (Supply Chain, Logistics)
  • 7+ years progressively responsible logistics/distribution position with experience in a management role, preferably in the recycling or waste collection industry.
  • Experience with routing and GPS technology as it relates to overall fleet management.
  • Previous managerial experience in a logistics environment required, including fleet maintenance
  • French language skills an asset
  • Able to deal with complex problems and multi levels of communication within the organization on a cross functional basis
  • Being results-oriented and thriving in a fast-paced, demanding environment
  • A hands-on, process oriented individual with exceptional leadership and managerial skills
  • Able to make decisions utilizing sound judgment and analytical skills
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced Computer skills with Microsoft Office
  • Strong commitment to Health & Safety
  • Strong interpersonal skills, works well in a team environment, can lead without formal reporting structure
  • Must be extremely well organized
