Summary


Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Logistics Manager is responsible for directing and coordinating the delivery of Meridian products. They will ensure the logistics department conducts timely processing of permits, hydro clearances and close monitoring of schedules to achieve delivery requirements. The Logistics Manager will work closely with sales, operations, and the customer to see the on-time delivery of Meridian products. Logistics Manager will ensure the department is complying with all applicable laws and regulations, specifically in relation to logistics and safety. The Logistics Manager is also responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the trucking department equipment, ensuring equipment is kept in good working order and requesting and arranging replacement when necessary.

Job Duties

  • Strategically plan and manage the delivery of product to the customer through optimizing and coordinating with sales, scheduling, operations, and logistics team.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor, and manage performance of logistics team, including drivers, and administrative staff, and mechanics.
  • Assist with truck routing and loading procedures and ensure trucks are loaded and scheduled efficiently.
  • Advise on optimal transportation methods such as routing, equipment, schedules, ensuring permits, and hydro clearances have been arranged in a timely manner, and customers are contacted to arrange delivery.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance of the applicable laws and regulations, company policies.
  • Monitor and track metrics to analyze data assessing performance and implementing improvements that focus on effectiveness, sustainability, customer service and efficiency.


Requirements

  • High School Diploma, or GED
  • Logistics education an asset
  • Minimum 5 years of work experience in transportation dispatch, shipping or logistics.
  • Experience working with oversize loads, permits and USA border crossing.
  • Leadership experience, managing performance of a team
  • Experience in reviewing drawings, and familiar with relevant terminology.
  • Strong communication and team work and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly motivated and self-directed capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strategic thinking skills.
  • Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
  • Knowledge of Meridian Manufacturing Inc products and processes an asset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office productivity suite and CRM software.
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Valid Driver’s License

Working Conditions

  • Ability to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Overtime as required.
