We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Logistics Coordinator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing the efficient movement of goods and materials throughout the supply chain. This role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, including suppliers, transportation providers, and internal departments to ensure timely order fulfillment and effective inventory management.
This is a hybrid role that comprises of overseeing planning and scheduling of deliveries and management of the fleet. This role must comprise of understanding their subordinates' responsibilities and be able to execute them in their absence. They must be proficient in monitoring delivery times, communication, management of drivers, fleet maintenance, routing, safety and regulatory compliance. The ability to provide quick thinking solutions is an asset to the role. It is critical that the logistics and fleet coordinator is organized and communicates well with other departments. A requirement is 3-5 years driving experience especially in a commercial truck in a 3 - 5-ton capacity.
Vehicle Maintenance
- Scheduling and coordinating routine maintenance, repairs, with Alberta Commercial Vehicles Inspections Program (CVIP)
- Record all maintenance history, including invoices are filed accordingly
- Record mileage on engine and refrigeration units
Driver Management
- Monitor Hours of service logs and daily logs of all drivers
- Follow and enforce driver policies including regulations
- Hands on training for drivers, including ride along evaluations
- Ensure that driver responsibilities and tasks are completed
- Ensure all logs are submitted on time and completed correctly
- Manage driver workload and strain, assign swampers if necessary
- Ensure that drivers have all necessary equipment, paperwork and gas cards required for the truck to be operational
- Monitor and ensure all team members follow company customer service standards
- Monitor attendance and sick days of team members
- Ensure that drivers maintain the cleanliness and structural integrity of the products being delivered
Routing Management
- Firm understanding of Calgary and surrounding areas
- Reroute orders to alternate trucks if/when overweight or overloaded
- Reroute special time sensitive orders or late orders to accommodate customer request
- Provide solutions for missed deliveries (transport & A-plus Couriers)
- Focus on improving routing efficiency (including fuel management)
- Constant focus and attention towards achieving on-time delivery of orders
Communication and Coordination
- Update sales team regarding delays and challenges
- Must work with all internal teams to answer questions regarding the fleet and logistics
- Must work with sales team members to assist in fulfilling customer deliveries
- Point of contact for drivers for orders, assistance and emergencies
Compliance
- Ensuring the fleet is compliant to the national safety code, Department of Transportation (DOT), and carrier safety fitness
- Ensuring that drivers follow all safety and traffic rules
- Ensuring that drivers follow the code of conduct, disciplinary and company policies
- Inform drivers of all regulations related to commercial vehicles as well as any changes to regulations that affect the company
- Maintain a professional, courteous, and respectful attitude when interacting with customers
- Follow dress code and appearance policy as enforce it
o Wear hard hat inside the plant.
o Wear high visibility when outside the plant in the back lot.
o Wear steel toes always.
o Maintain a clean and professional appearance.
Reporting & Documentation
- Collect and document all delivery information including delays
- Prepare daily reports on truck dispatch and return times with number of stops
- Provide metrics for management review such as drivers and cost of maintenance
- Ensure that drivers are completing all administration including return procedures
- Must be proficient with Email, Microsoft office, and Microsoft Teams
Safety
- Comply with all safety procedures outlined in the safety manuals and training
- Ensure truck temperatures are maintained at food safe levels
- Ensure that all the drivers are following food safety standards and guidelines
- Support OH & S standards including WCB and provincial health standards
- Ensure all drivers wear appropriate safety equipment while in the warehouse and on the road
- Enforce proper lifting, loading and unloading technique
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.50-$24.00 per hour
Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
