We offer several designated marshalling points within BC including Nanaimo, Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops, Williams Lake, Prince George, Smithers, and Calgary, AB. Role Purpose Reporting to the Superintendent- Supply & Logistics, this position is responsible for the coordination of the site logistics requirements for inbound and outbound goods and will direct transportation activities, develop transportation relationships and monitor transportation cost as it relates to dedicated carriers. We are seeking an individual for a Fly In, Fly Out opportunity working on a two weeks in, two weeks out rotation. Accountabilities:
Safety, Health & Housekeeping
Demonstrate absolute commitment in supporting a safe and healthy working environment:

  • Support the Safety Management System, ensure a safety-first work culture; apply site safety standards, procedures and policies
  • Participate in site safety initiatives and supporting the agreed behaviours in the team;
  • Commit to and help support NewSafe
  • Actively support a culture of recognizing hazards and minimizing risk and consequential harm to employees
  • Support any investigations when work is stopped due to an unsafe act or condition and ensure actions to mitigate the risks are implemented
  • Take a proactive risk management approach to tasks, i.e., recognize, analyse and respond to ensure risks are at an acceptable level; help to ensure that prior to work commencing an effective risk assessment and controls are in place and understood
  • Maintain a clean workplace, complete housekeeping tasks prior to the completion of the daily shifts
  • Help to ensure team members are authorized, qualified and competent to undertake the task/s; Not allowing an inexperienced person to undertake tasks unsupervised

Technical
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Inspect and verify incoming goods against invoices or other documents, record shortages and reject damaged goods.
  • Develop, implement, track, and improve key performance metrics consistent with business objectives.
  • Create reports for discrepancies and trends and rectify outstanding items or escalate them to senior management.
  • Create notifications for Crane and loader support for material that is outside Warehouse scope to handle depending on weight and size of material. Both inbound and Outbound.
  • Provide regular and ad-hoc status reports to management and end user departments as required on all current progress and freight vendor performance.
  • Highlight and report orders where there is a likelihood of delay to equipment or critical materials, which may have an adverse effect on production or critical services together with the proposed corrective action
  • In collaboration with the purchasing team, conduct regular reviews and updates of key vendor lead times, ensuring end users are informed
  • Coordinate with purchasing team to highlight lead time non-compliances and work with relevant suppliers to improve agreed performance metrics
  • Coordinate with customs agents to highlight opportunities work with relevant agents to improve agreed performance metrics
  • Own and maintain the approved drivers\xe2\x80\x99 site access log, confirm that freight vendors understand all site access requirements and ensure end user requisitioners are accountable for the management and approval of any exceptions.
Qualifications & Experience:
The ideal candidate would have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with multiple internal and external organisations at all levels This person must also have strong written and verbal communication skills.
You will need to demonstrate absolute commitment to safety and to maintaining a safe working environment, as well as a drive and passion for improvement and value creation through optimising processes and effectively developing and managing key stakeholder relationships.
In addition, you would have the following:
  • Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field is considered an asset, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years Supply and Logistics experience, in mining and/or a remote location
  • Minimum 3 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience of expediting and/or procurement
  • Knowledge and experience of managing logistics service providers
  • SAP experience is considered essential
  • Journeyman Parts certification is a strong asset.
  • Proficient in MS office (excel, word)
  • Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license
