We are seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented
Logistics Coordinator
to join our team. This individual will be responsible for coordinating the movement of grain and seed between Red River Seeds facilities, customers, suppliers, and direct ship destinations. The successful candidate will work closely with operations, sales, accounting, and external carriers to ensure efficient, timely, and cost-effective transportation.
Key Responsibilities
Logistics Coordination & Scheduling
Schedule and coordinate inbound and outbound grain and seed shipments for Red River Seeds facilities.
Arrange and manage direct ship loads to customers and end users.
Coordinate truck and rail logistics with customers, suppliers, carriers, and internal staff to ensure smooth execution of shipments.
Source & monitor inventory of packaging materials to align with scheduled production and outbound shipments.
Monitor shipment timelines and proactively address delays or issues.
Freight & Rate Management
Maintain accurate records of freight rates, contracts, and carrier agreements.
Track freight costs by shipment and assist with freight reconciliation.
Work with management to identify efficient routing and cost-saving opportunities.
Documentation & Record Keeping
Maintain complete and accurate logistics records, including shipment details, bills of lading, freight invoices, and delivery confirmations.
Ensure shipping documentation aligns with accounting and inventory requirements.
Assist with import/export documentation as required.
Communication & Coordination
Serve as a primary point of contact for logistics-related communication with customers, suppliers, carriers, and internal teams.
Provide timely shipment updates and resolve inquiries or issues professionally.
Work closely with accounting staff to ensure freight charges and logistics data are recorded accurately.
Compliance & Operational Support
Ensure logistics activities align with Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) requirements and company policies.
Support inventory movement tracking across facilities.
Assist with continuous improvement of logistics and operational workflows.
Perform additional logistics or administrative duties as required to support operations.
Qualifications & Skills
Post-secondary education in agriculture, logistics, supply chain management, or a related field considered an asset.
Experience in grain, seed, agriculture, or bulk commodity logistics is strongly preferred.
Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with ERP systems is an asset.
Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
