Currently hiring for: Logistics Coordinator
Position Overview:
The Logistics Coordinator will be part of the Operations team and report directly to the Director of Operations. The position is responsible for providing support and assistance to the purchasing teams in moving freight to our facility, ensuring our system and P.O.?s are capturing the correct freight costs, building LTL loads and negotiating freight rates and pick up allowances.
Key Responsibilities:
Support purchasing team for freight pick up
Negotiate pick up allowances
Source carriers and negotiate freight rates
Analyze freight opportunities and make recommendations
Reviewing freight invoices to ensure costs are updated in the system
Continual communication with carriers for on time arrivals
Resolve any carrier or vendor issues that may arise
All other related duties as assigned
This position will involve evening and weekend coverage, as required by business need.
Education / Experience:
Post Secondary education in logistics is considered an asset
Previous work experience in logistics is considered an asset
Strong negotiation skills
Analytical thinker
Strong communication skills
Detailed oriented
An understanding of the food distribution industry
Understanding of Retalix (Power Enterprise), WMS, Microsoft office

Requires the ability to reach, bend, balance, lift and transport various objects weighing up to 50 lbs. repeatedly throughout the shift; at times, product weight may reach above 50 lbs. Requires the ability to move heavy product with assistance
