Key Responsibilities
Perform routine preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on filling and packaging equipment including:
-Liquid fillers (piston, overflow, gravity)
-Capper machines, labelers, conveyors, induction sealers
Set up and adjust machines for varied product viscosities and container types
Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
Ensure compliance with workplace safety, chemical handling protocols, and lock-out/tag-out (LOTO) procedures
Work with operators and production supervisors to minimize downtime and improve line efficiency
Maintain documentation of repairs, parts used, and preventive maintenance records
Read equipment manuals, blueprints, and schematic diagrams to determine work procedures
Assist in installing new equipment and retrofitting or upgrading existing systems
Support 5S, continuous improvement, and lean manufacturing initiatives
Comply with WHMIS, OSHA, and other applicable chemical safety and environmental regulations
Qualifications
2+ years experience in mechanical maintenance or technician role in a manufacturing environment (chemical, personal care, or similar preferred)
Strong mechanical aptitude; ability to troubleshoot pumps, valves, gears, and drives
Experience with automated filling and packaging lines is highly desired
Familiarity with pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical troubleshooting (PLCs, sensors, relays)
Ability to calibrate and adjust machines for viscosity, fill level, bottle size, and packaging variation
Comfortable working around chemicals and using appropriate PPE (training provided)
Technical diploma or certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred
Must be able to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and SDS documentation
Good verbal and written communication skills, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work standing or crouching for long periods
Nice to Have
Millwright, industrial mechanic, or electromechanical certification
Experience with batch mixing or blending equipment
Knowledge of ERP or maintenance management systems (e.g., CMMS)
Familiarity with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) or Kaizen
