The Department of Computer Science at the University of Manitoba is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator to support the teaching and research of the Department.

Responsibilities will include installing, operating, maintaining, and updating Linux computers and servers running Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL, Alma, Raspberry Pi OS, FreeIPA, Kerberos, LDAP, NFS, SMB/CIFS, FUSE/SSHfs, DHCP, DNS, NTP, HTTP, TLS, SSH, SNMP, Apache, nginx, CGI, SMTP, IMAP, MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, OpenMPI, CUDA, Slum, KVM, QEMU

EXPERIENCE:

- Minimum 4 years of experience with Linux/Unix system administration, network management, and infrastructure support

- Extensive hands-on experience administering and supporting UNIX-like operating systems (primarily Linux - Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL, Alma, and Raspberry Pi OS - and macOS; with familiarity across other UNIX variants)

- Extensive experience with UNIX-like operating systems (primarily Linux - Ubuntu, Debian, RHEL, Alma, Raspberry Pi OS - and macOS, with familiarity across other UNIX variants), with strong orientation toward system administration and network management in TCP/IP-based Ethernet and WiFi mixed-media environments, including knowledge of core network protocols and services (DHCP, DNS, NFS, NTP, HTTP, TLS, SSH, SNMP, LDAP, etc.)

- Experience with enterprise-class accounts, user, and group management (IPA/FreeIPA, Kerberos, LDAP), including configuration and maintenance of networked file services (NFS, SMB/CIFS, FUSE/SSHfs), disk quotas, and secure access controls

- Proficiency in UNIX shell programming and development using PHP, Python, Perl, and C/C++, along with extensive use of UNIX/Linux administrative tools and command-line interfaces

- Experience installing, configuring, customizing, and updating the above systems, software, libraries, and applications, as well as various other UNIX-based application software

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $69,742.40-$100,555.00 per year
