Line Cook/prep Cook

Job Description

The Wellings of Picton is a vibrant community for independent adults who are 55+.

We are currently looking for a line/prep cook to prepare food to the chef's specifications, set up stations for menu and assist the chef with daily kitchen tasks. The successful candidate will play a key role in contributing to our customer satisfaction.

Shifts are 8 hours and run throughout the day & evening, usually noon until 8pm.

Candidates must be available on weekends, weekdays, and public holidays. This is not a seasonal position.



Job duties include but are not limited to the following:

- Setting up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies

- Answer, report and follow the chef's instructions

- Clean up station and take care of any leftover food

- Stock inventory as needed

- Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion

- Comply with nutrition and sanitation regulations and safety standards

- Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

- Preparing food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, cutting meat, preparing soups & sauces)

- Following recipes & cooking menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff

- Provide excellent customer services

- Adhere to all relevant health department rules/regulations and all customer service guidelines

- Follow food safety guidelines when handling and packaging food items

- Work with team members to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction

- assist with kitchen duties, such as dishwashing, cleaning, food service, inventory, and other related duties

Qualifications:



- Previous experience in a food service or hospitality setting is an asset

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

- Knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation procedures

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers and team members

- Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment and procedures, and cross contamination

- Accuracy & speed in executing assigned tasks

Familiar with industry's best practices
- Smart serve certificate &/or food handlers certificate an asset

MUST HAVE OWN TRANSPORTATION

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $18.00-$19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 40 per week
