We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Line Cook/Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a strong understanding of food preparation and cooking techniques. This role is essential in ensuring that our kitchen operates efficiently and that our guests receive high-quality meals. The Line Cook/Prep Cook will work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.
Responsibilities
Prepare ingredients for cooking, including washing, chopping, and measuring food items.
Cook menu items according to recipes and standards, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
Set up stations and collect all necessary supplies to prepare for service
Prepare a variety of foods
Arrange sauces and supplementary garnishes
Cover, date and correctly store all food prep items
Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and report any shortages to owner in advance.
Serve menu items compliant with established standards
Use food preparation tools in accordance with recipe manual
Close the kitchen correctly and follow the closing checklist for kitchen stations
Maintain a prepared and sanitary work area at all times
Keep the work area clean throughout the shift
Ensure grills, stove top, steamer, walk-in cooler and freezers are clean and read for use
Make sure all storage areas are tidy and all products are stored appropriately
Consistently use safe and hygienic food handling practice
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including workstations and storage areas.
Follow food safety guidelines and proper food handling procedures at all times.
Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely meal preparation and service.
Monitor inventory levels of food supplies and report any shortages to management.
Participate in regular cleaning duties, including deep cleaning tasks as required.
Requirements
Previous experience in a restaurant or food service environment is preferred.
Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and meal preparation processes.
Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in food handling.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively with kitchen staff.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, weekends and holidays as needed.
