We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Cook to join our culinary team at Pretty River Retirement. The ideal candidate will have experience in a restaurant environment and possess a strong understanding of food handling and safety practices. As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality meals, ensuring that all food is prepared in accordance with health and safety regulations, and contributing to a positive dining experience for our guests.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for maintaining high standards of quality food production, storage control and portion control.
2. Ensures maintenance, cleanliness and proper usage of all equipment in production area.
3. Adheres to policies relating to storage and use of leftovers.
4. Follows sanitation and housekeeping functions in this area.
5. Confers with the Chef about production of meal systems.
6. Maintains safety standards.
7. Participates in menu planning.
8. Adheres to the use of standardized recipes.
9. Receives deliveries and checks receipts against specifications and orders.
10. Identifies food requirements by determining the quantity from the daily meal count and menus.
11. Follows established procedures in a fire or safety emergency.
12. Reports promptly to the Chef any unusual occurrences.
13. Acts as back up to the Chef in his/her absence.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum one-year experience in volume food preparation in progressive dining environment.
Must be a high school graduate with a Certificate of qualification.
Must be sensitive to the dietary needs of the senior.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with team members.
Able to stand extensively and lift.
Ability to work under stress in a busy kitchen

Pay: From $21.57 per hour
