Duties and Responsibilities: \xc2\xb7 Teach a multilevel class using LINC Curriculum Guidelines \xc2\xb7 Design and implement professional, appropriate and motivational lesson plans consistent with accepted teaching methods and level of the class \xc2\xb7 Create and maintain a positive and anti-biased classroom atmosphere where participants feel welcome and are engaged in learning \xc2\xb7 Lesson plans written and ready before start of class \xc2\xb7 Include Computer Assisted Language Learning (CALL), ESL educational software, MS Word and the Internet \xc2\xb7 Assist learners to identify their educational needs, goals and interests \xc2\xb7 Provide instruction to enable students to meet their goals \xc2\xb7 Monitor and benchmark students\xe2\x80\x99 progress - Use the PBLA Companion Binder with the students to keep their language assessments and artifacts in \xc2\xb7 Maintain clear and accurate attendance records daily \xc2\xb7 Maintain a monthly summary of class activities and submit to coordinator at the end of each month \xc2\xb7 Start class on time, keep breaks within the allotted time period \xc2\xb7 Be willing to work as a team member by sharing ideas and resources with other instructors \xc2\xb7 Be willing to train and work with volunteers and students \xc2\xb7 Maintain professional relationship with students \xc2\xb7 Classroom and teaching will be observed and monitored on ongoing basis \xc2\xb7 Attend monthly staff meetings \xc2\xb7 Participate in professional development activities \xe2\x80\x93e.g., workshops, conferences and extra training for new LINC and PBLA components Qualifications: \xc2\xb7 TESL Ontario Certificate \xc2\xb7 University Degree - Ontario College of Teachers Certification \xc2\xb7 Previous experience teaching ESL or LINC to adults required (min. 2 years) \xc2\xb7 Experience working in a multicultural environment - PBLA Training (PBLA Bootcamp) - On-Line Course for Teachers New to PBLA (Referred to program by LINC Sudbury Program Manager) - Avenue Training (referred to program by LINC Sudbury Program Manager) \xc2\xb7 Computer skills with the knowledge of ESL educational software, MS Word, Internet \xc2\xb7 Online teaching experience. \xc2\xb7 Good knowledge of the LINC Curriculum Guidelines and Canadian Language Benchmarks, ability to benchmark students\xe2\x80\x99 progress \xc2\xb7 Excellent lesson planning skills, communication and interpersonal skills \xc2\xb7 Ability to work independently with solid time management and organizational skills \xc2\xb7 Punctual, reliable, dependable and disciplined Job Types: Part-time, Fixed term contract, Casual
Contract length: 10 months
Part-time hours: 25 per week Salary: $30.00-$38.00 per hour Benefits:
