Your Opportunity:
The experienced peri-operative Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will be responsible for the pre-surgical care of patients in the patient holding area of the DTC Surgical Suite. As a member of the multidisciplinary team, the incumbent must have the ability to recognize and assist with management of pre-surgical problems. Working with surgery patients during the pre-surgical phase, the incumbent performs a variety of nursing duties including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care in accordance with hospital policies and standards. The LPN practices in accordance with CLPNA practice standards. The successful candidate must demonstrate a professional, positive attitude. Excellent communication, teaching, organizational, problem solving, and interpersonal skills are required. The LPN promotes the professional role and evaluates their professional education and clinical practice standards. The incumbent will be expected to participate in quality improvement initiatives at the front line; supporting and maintaining high quality patient care strategies within the DTC Surgical Suite. The DTCOR Surgical Suite provides care to high acuity patients who have undergone a variety of major surgeries including General, Neuro, Orthopedic, Trauma, Plastic, Oral-Maxillofacial, Urology, and Thoracic surgery as elective and emergency cases. We do over 11, 000 surgeries a year, most of which are complex and acute.
