Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centred clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the Library Technician position will provide library services including: circulation, reference, collection development, cataloguing and processing, publication order processing and inter-library loans. This position will also support other knowledge exchange activities including identifying and reviewing research materials as required.

The Library Technician will demonstrate the following:

Experience
  • Automated library system experience is required.
  • Experience in maintenance of audio-visual material.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office software, internet and email communications is essential.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Three years related library experience or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education that includes library courses and library experience.
  • Library and Information Technology Certificate or Diploma from a recognized program.

  • Excellent communication skills to interact with staff, related agencies and the general public.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work within and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • An understanding of, and sensitivity to, working with culturally diverse populations is essential.
  • Knowledge of the addictions field is an asset.
  • Fluency in English (French verbal and written an asset).
