Job Summary


The Librarian and Learning Support Specialist is responsible for advancing the academic mission of IBU through the design, curation, and delivery of high-quality digital learning resources and services. This role develops and maintains innovative collections, including Open Educational Resources, and leads the creation of an Online Learning Commons to enhance both student and faculty learning experiences. Leveraging educational technology, established and emerging research tools, and business-focused resources, the Specialist provides workshops, instructional support, and targeted research assistance to strengthen digital literacy, academic integrity, entrepreneurship, and scholarship across IBU programs. The position also contributes to program evaluation and quality assurance, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and the highest standards of teaching and learning excellence.

1. Library and Online Learning Commons



Develop, procure, curate, and maintain digital resources and collections (including Open Education Resources) for IBU scholarship and student learning in IBU program areas. Design, implement, and evaluate educational resources, pertinent to IBU curriculum competencies, that leverage technology to maximize accessibility and engagement for instructors and students in their teaching and learning objectives. Research and maintain currency in digital resources and collections for Business and Business-intersecting programs; make recommendations for resource enhancements as appropriate. Work with relevant IBU Stakeholders (Marketing, IT, Academic Leaders, Registrar & Student Support Services) to create an Online Learning Commons that is the public face of all resources and education ventures in Knowledge Architect and Learning Specialist portfolio.

2. Faculty and Student Learning Support



Plan, deliver, and evaluate effectiveness of workshops for IBU instructors and students on best practice, use-scenarios for all IBU scholarship and learning resources Recruit, onboard, and coordinate IBU Teaching & Research Assistants to provide Instructor teaching and student learning support. Plan, deliver, and evaluate effectiveness of instruction, across modalities, for enhancing student excellence in research, presentations, AI and emerging technology innovations, digital literacy, entrepreneurial mind-set, and business communications. Collaborate with LMS Support and Educational Technology Specialist and Academic Standards and Integrity Specialist to design and provide learning experiences and resources to IBU instructors and students that demonstrate IBU gold standard in teaching and learning excellence in the postsecondary ecosystem. Apply knowledge of business-related research tools and applications to support student and faculty research and entrepreneurship projects; Apply knowledge of these same tools and applications in curriculum development and new program planning projects. Provide targeted research support to faculty members for publications, teaching, and applied scholarship. Contribute to institutional reports and quality assurance processes, supporting the scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL); create relevant quality assurance policies and processes for ensuring excellence in Library and Learning Support

3. Assessment and Program Effectiveness



Work with the Associate Director to evaluate the effectiveness of all ventures, programs, and resources in the Library and Learning Support Specialist portfolio. Make data-driven recommendations to enhance program and resources effectiveness; implement enhancements to meet IBU strategic priorities.

4. Other duties



Assist with various quality assurance tasks as assigned by the Associate Director, Academic Operations and Quality Assurance. Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director, Academic Operations and Quality Assurance.

Qualifications & Application Process:



Master's degree in Education, Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field. Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience supporting faculty in higher education, with expertise in LMS platforms; experience with Brightspace or Canvas is a strong asset. Demonstrated experience in instructional/learning experience design, digital pedagogy, and educational technology integration. Knowledge of emerging educational technologies, digital assessment platforms, classroom engagement tools, and their pedagogical applications. Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work across academic and IT functions. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to design and deliver training for diverse faculty audiences. Knowledge of best practices in in-person, online, and blended teaching, accessibility, Universal Design for Learning, and quality assurance frameworks. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build strong collaborative relationships with multiple stakeholders. Excellent oral, written (specifically report writing) and presentation skills. Excellent analytical skills required to problem solve. Excellent time management and attention to detail. Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and OneDrive. Ability to attend to multiple priorities concurrently. Able to leverage digital solutions to maximize business objectives.
