About the Position:

This is a Regular Part-Time (RPT) position within the part-time support staff Bargaining Unit reporting to the Manager of Counselling, Accessibility and Testing working 24 hours per week at an hourly rate of $26.31.

The Outreach Program Facilitator is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Outreach Branch within Let\'s Face It. As an experienced mental health advocate, the facilitator engages youth and young adults in programming that aims to create mental health awareness, and through the use of hands-on activities, builds resiliency and life skills, assists with preparing for life transitions, and supports the development of positive coping strategies.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Assists with recruitment with Lambton College student volunteers to assist with program facilitation
  • Facilitates program debriefing sessions with student volunteers
  • Ensure confidentiality and breaches thereof are dealt with in a professional manner
  • Complete annual report to capture all funded outcomes of programming
  • Develop promotional materials for recruitment and advertising of programs
  • Deliver presentations to classrooms, groups of students, at campus events as well as for partners and stakeholders
  • Able to demonstrate knowledge about the programs, services and supports available for students, both within the college and the community (Sarnia-Lambton and surrounding area)
  • Able to demonstrate current relationships and connection to social service organizations in the Sarnia-Lambton community
  • Liaise with staff and managers of those organizations and local school personnel to arrange for off campus programming and evaluation of programs
  • Travelling to deliver programming at schools and in the community
  • Maintain positive connection and foster relationships with key stakeholders
  • Develop and implement off campus schedule
Qualifications:
  • 3-year Advanced Diploma in Child and Youth Care or Social Service Worker or equivalent.
  • Must have current Level C First Aid & CPR certification
  • CPI/NVCI/PMAB training or equivalent
  • Up to 3 years of experience supporting young people through mental health programming
