Our Leisure Coordinator will organize our leisure programs, will get to to know and LISTEN to our residents individually helping to create an old fashioned community where people know each other and care for each other. The successful candidate will be able to think creatively to keep activities fresh and engaging, taking the time to reach out to individuals and encourage their participation in activities and events, and come up with back up plans on the spot in the event an entertainer fails to show. We have an art studio/craft room, wood working and stained glass workshop, fitness facilities, putting green and more leisure venues and are seeking a person willing to lead these types of activities. A passion for working with older people is fundamental to this position. The Leisure Coordinator is responsible for publishing an informative and professional monthly newsletter and leisure calendar on time and driving our 24 passenger bus on outings twice weekly. A sense of humour with the ability to make people laugh, a high level of positive energy, patience and a big heart essential. In addition to being creative, we need someone that is organized and professional in conduct and appearance.

  • Professional event planning experience (two years) required with local connections
  • Experience working with seniors
  • Can set up basic audio visual equipment
  • Clean Class 2 or 4 Drivers License with fundamental understanding of vehicles
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Obtain and organize volunteers (both resident and non-resident volunteers) two years experience
  • Willingness to assist other departments as needed
  • MS Office Suite proficiency required (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and Publisher) - candidates will be tested
  • artistic talents would be beneficial
The hours of work, generally, are Sunday through Thursday, with two early evenings per week required. The hours will vary depending on the events we host. A criminal record check for vulnerable sectors is required.
