Your Role & It\'s Impact

As the Legal Services Supervisor, you will:

  • Be an integral part of a leadership team working to ensure effective and efficient provision of a range of legal services to support government operations.
  • Build relationships and interact tactfully and diplomatically with various stakeholders (Colleagues, Senior Management, Vendors, opposing counsel and the legal community in general).
  • Demonstrated flexibility and creativity in problem solving, action management, team building, and staff motivation.
  • Have significant independence and accountability for the delivery of an extensive range of managerial responsibilities for a team of legal support professionals, ensuring alignment with core human resources, financial, business, and administrative systems and processes, such as:
  • All HR responsibilities for the team (recruitment and selection, performance planning and development, performance management, attendance, and absence management).
  • Onboard and Train new users.
  • Set standards and best practices for the team.
  • Decisive and effective at prioritizing and delegating tasks, including ensuring deadlines are met by others with little margin for error.
  • Procuring required resources.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement by developing new and revised legal and business processes to support the smart deployment of resources.
  • Main point of contact for all legal administration and corporate services needs for the team.
  • Promote a positive, healthy, safe, and secure work environment.

Equivalency

You have successfully completed a paralegal or legal assistant diploma or certificate from a recognized post secondary institution plus several years directly related experience supervising a team. An acceptable combination of your education and experience may be considered.

Working Conditions
  • May be required to work overtime on occasion.
  • Regular travel to offices throughout the province is required.
  • Pressure to meet deadlines and ensure accuracy of work.

Additional Information

These positions are based in Halifax.

This competition is to fill a Permanent & a Term employment opportunity based in Halifax with an anticipated end date of March 24, 2024. The position type (term/temporary/casual) will depend on the start date of the candidates.

Pay Grade: EC 08

Salary Range: $2,361.99 - $2,952.48 Bi-Weekly
