What You'll Do
Oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of multiple complex litigation files, ensuring all timelines, budgets, and deliverables stay on track.
Work closely with lawyers to assess capacity, consider resource allocation, and identify gaps or barriers before they arise.
Develop project management systems, processes, and tools to track and report on file workflow and progress, while identifying resourcing needs with consideration for deadlines and workload.
Collaborate with firm leadership in both Toronto and Victoria to maintain clear communication and strategic planning alignment across all offices.
Monitor and manage project budgets, ensuring accuracy and accountability in real time and track ongoing resource needs and recommendations.
Conduct needs analysis for potential PM software implementation and recommend solutions.
Build internal processes to strengthen knowledge management and process consistency that aligns with Woodward's legacy of success.
Mentor and coordinate delegated work task assignments among team members, ensuring clarity of role and responsibilities and continued forward momentum on each file.
Synthesize information sharing across multiple files to provide concise, actionable updates for leadership and support proactive capacity resource planning.
Foster a collaborative, solutions-focused environment where team members stay organized, informed, and confident in their valued contributions.
What You'll Bring
10+ years of project management experience, with a deep understanding of how litigation or legal teams operate and function. Whether you've led projects as a lawyer or legal operations professional, you understand the necessity of strong structure, strategy, and resources required for complex legal work.
Strong grasp of litigation processes in Ontario, and BC jurisdictions at all levels of court.
Proven ability to effectively manage multiple large scale, document-heavy projects on multiple files simultaneously.
Excellent organizational, budgeting, and communication skills; you're adept at managing both project details and interpersonal relationships.
Confidence in building and refining processes from the ground up; you know how to implement structure without overcomplicating strategies or processes required for full cycle file completion.
Familiarity with e-discovery software, workflows, and tools.
A strategic mindset: able to anticipate future file needs and make a proactive and positive impact based on the demands of current workload.
Adept at working across a variety of practice areas and with dynamic and strong personalities; knows how to keep everyone moving in the same direction.
Experience working with Indigenous people, communities, or organizations is an asset.
