The opportunity: The University of Manitoba is looking for a Legal Assistant. This position will be responsible for providing administrative and secretarial support to the staff in Legal Office. The Legal Assistant will help the office manage and prioritize tasks in a busy environment. The position will also facilitate communications with other University units which the office serves. The qualifications and experience we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for:
  • Successful completion of a legal assistant program of studies is required.
  • Minimum of five years office related experience required.
  • A good general understanding of the University, its structure, and its activities.
  • An understanding of the University\xe2\x80\x99s policies and procedures.
  • An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written required.
  • Excellent attention to detail is required.
  • Strong organizational skills required.
  • Strong prioritization skills required.
  • Project management skills required.
  • Event management skills require.
  • Ability to work in a highly confidential environment required.
  • Ability to exercise good independent judgment and action required.
  • Ability to present a professional image, and display tact and diplomacy in all dealings required.
  • Ability to present a strong customer service focus required.
  • Ability to adapt to and learn new systems and technologies required.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work and priorities required.
  • Ability to work under pressure required.
  • Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
