Legal Affairs Technician

Job Description

Large event company located in downtown Montreal, our client is looking for a legal affairs technician for a 5-month mandate. This person will be responsible for carrying out various administrative tasks related to the issuance and monitoring of customer contracts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • May produce rental contract templates, documents, letters, notes and other correspondence and prepare for dispatch to external stakeholders.
  • Prepare, with the help of indications, the content of various draft legal documents (service contracts, assignments and amendments to contracts, letters of agreement, formal notice, etc.).
  • Produce, as required from templates, commercial leases and related amendments and other documentation.
  • Suggest, as necessary, proposals following the analysis of the files and their specificities, particularly of a contractual nature or legal terminology.
  • Process, respond and ensure the follow-up of requests for information as well as legal correspondence and requirements contained in rental contracts with stakeholders (internal and external stakeholders, customers).
  • Prepare the assembly of files with the various relevant documents. (e.g. approval, waiver, framework agreement, etc.).
  • Ensure the entry, updating and management of information related to contractual follow-up in accordance with established guidelines.
  • Consult various specialized sites or jurisprudential databases (CIDREQ, CAIJ and others), in order to validate and find various legal information.
  • Ensure the collection and compliance of the information necessary for the production of various agreements in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, standards and procedures.
  • Validate all the information indicated in the contracts or any other type of agreement (dates, rooms, special conditions, rates, etc.) and report anomalies for correction.
  • Perform contractual follow-up with customers (e.g. receipt of proof of insurance, duly signed contracts and other relevant follow-ups).
  • Maintain a register of leases, legal registers and signed agreements.
  • Check the conformity of insurance certificates.
  • Make requests and follow-ups with bailiffs' offices.
  • Perform other related duties.
TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written French and English languages
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software
  • Very good knowledge of legal information sites (e.g. CIDREQ, Publications du Quebec, Canadian Legal Information Institute, Centre d'acces a l'information juridique)
  • Very good knowledge of legal terminology
  • Very good knowledge of EBMS software, an asset

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS AND EXPERIENCE
  • Professional college diploma in a program of study appropriate to the job.
  • Three years of experience relevant to the duties of the position.
  • Experience in commercial or corporate law.
  • Experience in litigation is an asset.
