Job Summary





The Legal Advocate - Mushroom Worker is responsible for providing legal advocacy, translation, and transportation coordination services to mushroom farm workers represented by UFCW 1518. This role supports workers in accessing essential services and navigating systems such as WorkSafe BC, Employment Insurance, housing, and healthcare. The position is part-time and funded through a partnership agreement with UFCW 1518.


Your Role:





Archway's Legal Advocate - Mushroom Workers contributes by:


Providing legal advocacy and support with: WorkSafe BC claims, Employment Insurance (including parental and maternity benefits), Housing-related concerns, completion of essential forms (EI, WCB, medical, etc.). Offering in-person and phone-based translation support during appointments. Coordinating and providing transportation to critical services (e.g., medical, consular, pharmacy, grocery). Building trust and rapport with farm workers, respecting cultural and linguistic needs. Collaborating with internal staff and UFCW 1518 as needed.

Getting an Interview-you will be considered if you have:




Diploma in human services, legal studies, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid B.C. Class 5 Driver's License and access to an insured vehicle. Minimum 2 years of experience in legal advocacy, social work, or community support. Experience working with vulnerable populations. Experience providing translation and transportation support.

The Job Requires you to have:




Knowledge of BC legal systems (WorkSafe BC, Employment Insurance, Employment Standards, Residential Tenancy). Strong understanding of issues of marginalization. Cultural competence; works well with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Strong verbal, written, and active listening communication skills; able to communicate clearly and respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and varying levels of English. Must be fluent in Spanish and English (spoken and written). Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365. A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is a condition of employment.
