We are seeking a highly-motivated and detail-orientated Legal Administrative Assistant & Translator to join our busy and growing Legal team. The position will work closely with the Legal team and business stakeholders at various levels of the company. This role will have responsibility for a variety of legal tasks and projects, and provide administrative support to our legal operations, corporate, and commercial functions.
An initial and primary responsibility for this position will be to translate various contracts, policies, training materials, and other documents from English into French, and then doing so on an ongoing basis - therefore, this position requires full bilingual fluency in English and French and the ability to proficiently translate and write legal documents.
On the administrative side, this is a generalist role that involves managing and supporting projects across the full range of subject matter supported by the Legal team. Accuracy is essential for this position and requires a self-starter who can manage changing priorities, has the ability to multitask on a wide variety of projects, possesses exceptional attention to detail, and is eager to learn the ins and outs of our company and drive strategic legal efforts to grow and protect our business.
What You Will Be Doing


  • Collaborating with multiple teams to translate corporate and employment documents, policies, training materials, and correspondence from English to French while focusing on the cultural and linguistic nuances necessary to ensure an accurate French-Canadian translation
  • Review and proofread documents translated by external agencies
  • Managing agendas, organizing meetings, booking appointments, and handling other administrative tasks for the Legal team
  • Working closely with the Finance department to prepare expense reports, track legal spend, manage accruals and external counsel invoicing
  • Support legal operations through the development, management, administration, and improvement of various legal team processes as well as the adoption and enablement of new technology
  • Managing and supporting projects across a full range of subject matter supported by the legal team
  • Coordinating travel, creating itineraries, and planning Legal team events
  • Supporting our contract management processes and tools, including contract signing, filing, and reporting

About You

  • Located in Montreal. We will also consider excellent candidates based in Toronto or Vancouver.
  • Legal Administration or Paralegal diploma and/or designation
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working for a reputable law firm (ideally in a corporate/commercial practice) and/or in-house legal department
  • Minimum 3 years experience working in professional English-French translation
  • Fluent in both English and French languages with a superb ability to speak, read and write
  • Familiarity with Quebec legal and regulatory legislation is an asset
  • Ability to grasp and interpret legal documents
  • Exceptional organizational skills and strict attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with a high degree of accountability
  • Resourceful, process and solutions-oriented
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment, perform under pressure, and multi-task on a wide variety of projects with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word; previous experience working with Google Workspace, Confluence and Jira is an asset
  • Tact, integrity, and discretion; ability to work with and process confidential information with sensitivity
