Lecturer
The Irving K. Barber School of Science at the University of British Columbia, Okanagan Campus, invites applications for a limited term position in the Department of Earth, Environmental and Geographic Sciences, at the rank of Lecturer. This is a part time 0.5 FTE 3-year term position with the possibility of renewal subject to availability of funds and work performance. The anticipated start date of September 1, 2025 or a date to be mutually agreed upon. The successful candidate will be a member of the Department of Earth, Environmental and Geographic Sciences (https://eegs.ok.ubc.ca/).
Applicants must have a PhD in Earth and Environmental Sciences, or a related field, by the time of appointment. Applicants with all fields of expertise are encouraged to apply, but we are particularly interested in applicants with a demonstrated ability to teach courses in Earth and Environmental Sciences and Sustainability and show teaching excellence in teaching at the undergraduate level. The successful applicant should be prepared to teach a range of 4 undergraduate courses related directly to department needs. There may be opportunities to develop and teach upper-level courses in the candidate's own area of specialization. While this is primarily a teaching position, lecturers are also expected to participate fully in the affairs of their departments and may fulfill service obligations to the University and community.
