The starting annual salary for this School Teacher position ranges from $61,838 to $108,458, with placement on the July 1, 2024 Teacher Salary Grid based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement.

Job Summary & Responsibilities




Auguston Traditional Elementary School is an alternate program operating within the public school system. The prescribed curriculum and regulations of the British Columbia Ministry of Education, Skills, and Training are followed, with an emphasis on a consistent, structured approach to instruction. Clearly defined standards of academic achievement and behavior characterize the school's approach.





The successful candidate for this position will be committed to working collaboratively with teachers and support staff to design an environment and program that engages both children and their families. They will have a breadth of knowledge and experience in working in the Inclusive Education field at the elementary level, including experience in the areas of social emotional learning, trauma informed practice and differentiated instruction. They will also be familiar with technology used to support students in their learning.
The successful candidate may be required to complete

LSS Essentials

, a series of 3 workshops facilitated by the LSS Department.

Education & Experience

Major/minor or diploma in Inclusive Education (aka Special Education) Practicum and/or work experience in Inclusive Education at the Elementary level Case management experience required Training and experience with Level B Assessments ( ie . KBIT2/KTEA III) Successfully complete and maintain non-violent crisis intervention certification Eligible for B.C. Certification Satisfactory teacher evaluation and/or final practicum reports

Facilitation & Engagement: Ability to capture and maintain students' interest, effort, participation and enthusiasm for both the content and the process of learning Assessment & Coaching: Utilize balanced assessment and feedback to improve student learning including the use of formative and summative assessment strategies. Collaboration & Teamwork: Collaborate with others to achieve group goals and objectives Caring & Inclusiveness: Create and maintain an environment that is caring, inclusive and supportive of all students * Flexibility & Adaptability: Demonstrate flexibility in the ability to adjust and adapt to changing circumstances
