Lethbridge Polytechnic's Centre for Teaching, Learning and Innovation (CTLI) is looking for a Learning Experience Designer to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Educational Development Lead, this position works with faculty, staff, and other members of CTLI to enhance our innovative, human-centred teaching and learning environment.

The LXD works collaboratively across a range of program and service units to provide vision and leadership in planning, developing, and implementing initiatives that support professional development and best practice in learning design for our instructors. consultation and mentorship on scholarly teaching,
curriculum review (quality standards) and design,

collaborative cross-institutional projects.
Excelling in self-directed situations and having the creative confidence to forge new solutions to systems challenges are keys to succeeding in this position. This role also requires strong project management, decision-making, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills and the use of flexible approaches to adapt to our clients' needs and comfort levels while applying educational development frameworks that prioritize collaboration, empowerment, and reflective practice to foster transformational learning for instructors and students.

Empowering others in teaching and learning best practice
Partners with faculty to encourage growth in learning design; emerging teaching practices; educational technology; Indigenous ways of knowing and learning; and equity, diversity, and inclusion considerations related to teaching and learning
Plans and facilitates workshops, training sessions, and courses and creates resources in print and online formats to support instructor development and the overall student experience
Apply instructional design theories, models, and best practices to create high-quality learning experiences.
Collaborate with and lead design teams, including writers and media designers.
Facilitates dialogue across diverse and interdisciplinary stakeholders (e.g., faculty, staff, and community members) to ensure multiple perspectives are considered
Leads new teaching and learning projects, initiatives, and partnership opportunities
Contribute to data collection strategies and assess the sustainability and effectiveness of processes, learning experiences, and materials.
Contributes to a culture of experimentation, continuous improvement, and agile design through iterative feedback cycles and user-centered practices.
Learning design and quality assurance
Facilitates curriculum development and review at the course or program level
Applies instructional design skills, design thinking strategies, learning theory, and creativity throughout the program and course design process to meet diverse program and client needs
Adheres to universal design for learning standards to ensure accessibility and inclusivity
Indigenization and decolonization
Collaborates across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes, and support the Niitsitapi Strategy
Works with subject-matter experts to develop and pilot curriculum and professional development opportunities with Indigenous content, perspectives and pedagogical practices
Evaluation and monitoring
Completes needs assessments as required
Evaluates and monitors service offerings related to teaching, learning, and curriculum design to make formative improvements, identify impacts, and address emerging campus needs
Applies learning analytics and AI tools to inform design decisions, personalize learning experiences, and improve learner outcomes.
Required Qualifications
Master's degree with specialization in education, instructional design, educational research, educational technology and/or curriculum development is preferred Work experience in curriculum development at a program or course level (using a learning management system)
Post-secondary teaching experience is strongly preferred
Experience and/or education on the topic of Indigenous education or Indigenization of curriculum is an asset
Experience and/or education on the topic of competency-based education and assessment is an asset
Experience with research projects and processes in an academic environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experiments with new approaches, leverages setbacks, and makes realistic assessments of risks and next steps
Approaches new tasks with a growth mindset and a willingness to learn from others
Rapidly acquires new skills in emerging educational technologies and AI
Interprets and applies polytechnic and post-secondary policies and procedures
Shifts easily between two or more activities or sources of information; works on multiple projects simultaneously
An undergraduate degree in Education, with a master's degree complete or in progress
Significant and successful teaching experience
Experience and competence using educational technology
Strong organizational and self-management skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and attend to detail
Evidence of professional development throughout career
Demonstrated time management, communication (oral and written), and project management skills, and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Salary
Starting from $42.12 to $49.55 per hour; commensurate with education and experience
