The Jane / Finch Community Tennis Association is a community-based not-for-profit organization that is committed to operating within an Anti-Oppressive and trauma-informed framework to engage our community. We aim to work in a manner that is both productive and constructive to enhance individual strengths; and promote positive developmental outcomes for young people. JFCTA utilizes sport as a vehicle to develop the capacity of youth within our organization and community. Our programs are explicitly designed to be low-cost, and barrier-free.

We are seeking an organized individual to be the
League Convenor
of the Winter Tennis League. The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in delivering a tennis program to people of various ages, organizing match schedules, communicating with players, recording scores, and ensuring a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all participants. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are a must along with a shared value of being passionate about making a difference in the community and a love of tennis.
League Convenor Responsibilities:
The League Convenor will report for the Winter Tennis League on Sundays from 5:00 pm-8:00 pm beginning January 11th, 2026, and concluding in March, 2026.
Organize weekly league play, including scheduling and court assignments, and tabulate scores at the end of day
Supervise participants to create a safe and fun learning environment that encourages fair play
Support administrative duties of the program ( i.e. registration, uniform and equipment orders,etc)
Supervise 10-20 youth and adult volunteers, in varying administrative and coaching roles
Responsible for attendance of participants each week and entry into Clubspark
Liaise with key stakeholders, parents and participants regularly
Engage parents and volunteers where appropriate
Provide oversight of operations for multiple sites
Communicate with coaches, volunteers, colleagues, and parents/guardians in a professional manner and provide updates
Adhere to the policies and procedures of the organization
Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants at all times
Skills and Attributes:
Experience working with children and youth in Jane/Finch or similar community
Ability to organize and lead children and youth
Strong communication and organization skills
Ability to work effectively both as a team and independently
Punctuality and sufficient time management skills
Be respectful of the values and code of conduct of each organization
Strong ability to problem solve and adapt to situations
Current First Aid/CPR and Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain)
Have the ability to instruct and demonstrate the 5 fundamentals of tennis (seen as an asset)
Experience using Clubspark or similar registration platforms (seen as an asset)
